Iranian taxpayers bore the tab for the ballistic missile attacks the regime launched against Israel on October 1, 2024. This was according to the speech of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu[1].
Over the past few years, Iran has experienced significant economic decline, increased poverty, rising inflation, and the devaluation of the Iranian Rial. This was due in part to the sanctions placed upon the country under this regime. Technology in Iran saw a significant decline, and the people bore the brunt.
However, this has not stopped Iran from funding Hezbollah and investing heavily in military equipment. Israel is the most convenient alibi that Iran and all the other authoritarians cite to maintain their militarist ideology, which encourages citizens to sacrifice their most significant interests and development for the destruction of Israel.
Netanyahu stated in the speech that the $2.3 billion ballistic attack from Iran on October 1st caused minimal damage to Israel. However, billions of Iran's scarce funds had been wasted on this fruitless and irrational act.
Expanding it further, it is apparent that Iran’s destabilizing actions in the region played a huge role in forcing Iran to divert scarce funds to military adventurism.
Thus, as one of the first leaders to stand up directly to the Iranian military expansionist threat, Netanyahu appealed directly to the Iranian people. He mentioned the fact that Iran could cooperate with Israel on many fronts to give the Iranian people a much better life they deserve than what the regime has shoved down their throats.
He also reiterated that the Iranian regime might appear tough on the outside. However, inwardly, they fear the collective power of the Iranian people. As such, he encouraged the people to demand accountability and responsible behavior from their government.
In fact, Iran's octopus of terror has withdrawn back into its shell on Iranian territory after the Israeli offensive on Lebanon and Syria. Many of the leading IRGC military commanders, alongside the remaining Hezbollah leaders, fled to Iran after Israel rose to counter them.
Now, Iranian adventurism has been proven to be frivolous and wasteful. It is extravagant, expensive, and ineffective.
This will force the regime to ponder. However, Iran's citizens are put in a position where they need to think critically about Iran's role in today's fast-changing world, where militarism could prove to be much more destructive than ever in human history.
